Childhood And Education
Dmitry Gordovich was born in a family of native Leningraders. The entrepreneur’s mother graduated from Herzen State Pedagogical Institute. Later she built a career as a teacher and received a PhD in Philology. Until her retirement, she lectured at the Moscow Academy of Printing. Now she continues to teach. The father received an engineering education at Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute. Since the early 1960s, the family lived in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, where Dmitry was born on May 20, 1969.
Dmitry Gordovich spent his childhood in the Far East. He graduated from school there and moved to Leningrad in 1986 to enroll in the geological faculty of Leningrad State University. After completing the first year, he joined the army, where he served from 1987 to 1989. A lot has changed in the country’s economy during these two years. Dmitry left to serve when market relations were in their infancy, and returned to a country where people were actively building businesses and making fortune.
Dmitry Gordovich’s biography could have turned out quite differently if he had decided to link his life with geology. However, in 1992, he reconsidered his views on the future profession and decided to try himself in business. In 1997, Dmitry entered St. Petersburg Institute of Modern Economics and Technology at the faculty of management, from which he graduated with honors in 2001. By that time, he was already successfully engaged in business and managed his own company.
Career
Dmitry Gordovich’s biography in professional terms began with work in his first specialty. However, he did not work in the field of geology for long. While still a student at IMET, the entrepreneur founded LLC “Viadi”, which was engaged in the production and distribution of food ingredients and additives. The company began to develop rapidly within a few months after its foundation. In 1999, a contract was signed with the American corporation Cargill Inc., investing in food production. At the same time, the company opened branches in Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod and Novosibirsk.
In 2001, the first laboratory was launched. In a few years, it grew into a large-scale production. In 2005, the company brought a 1.5-kilometer-long gas pipeline to the plant. In 2007, a site for the production of soy protein mixtures under the Emulgofix brand name was launched.
As a legal entity, the Viadi company has long ceased to exist — but its successor LLC “Ingredients.Development” continues to function successfully. Today it occupies a leading position among key suppliers of soy protein. Dmitry Gordovich has been running this business for nine years.
The entrepreneur joined the banking sector in 2007. For several years, he worked as an adviser to the Manager for the Development of Client Business in the Baltic Development Bank. This financial institution was founded in Kaliningrad in 1994 and specialized in catering to individuals as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses. A separate department worked with organizations in the transport industry.
In 2000, the head office of the organization moved to Moscow. At the same time, the scaling of the bank in the Far East began. In 2005, the first small office opened in St. Petersburg. Then a new stage in the development of the organization began. In a few years, Baltic Development Bank divisions opened in a dozen major cities. This was largely due to Dmitry Gordovich.
In 2012, the bank was rebranded and its name was changed to BBR Bank. A year later, the organization opened a large office in St. Petersburg near Nevsky Prospect. The key advantage of the bank has been and remains an individual approach to customers, regardless of the scale of their business. With equal success, BBR solves the issues of large industrial and financial groups as well as representatives of small and medium-sized businesses.
Success Despite Difficulties
In 2016, a new stage began in the career of the top manager at BBR Bank. Dmitry Gordovich took the position of Deputy Head in the Network Development Department. In subsequent years, the bank actively opened new branches. Today it is represented in Nizhny Novgorod, Sochi, Krasnodar, Vladivostok, Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, Khabarovsk, Krasnoyarsk and many other cities.
BBR endured 2020, which was a difficult year for the entire financial system. The bank did not allow a single interruption in customer service. This trend continued in 2022. The organization carried out a large-scale work on the restructuring of logistics chains and selected safe payment methods. Currently BBR Bank is engaged in the development of a correspondent network in the BRICS countries.
Dmitry Gordovich is a member of the Board of Directors and participates in making key decisions of BBR Bank.
Charity Projects
For many years, charity has occupied an important place in Dmitry Gordovich’s life. The entrepreneur participates in major charity projects. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Ostrova charity foundation, which helps people with cystic fibrosis. The organization implements extensive treatment programs aimed at persistent remission of this multisystem disease.
The foundation not only provides targeted assistance to medical institutions, initiative groups and individual patients. It also finances research programs and scientific work as well as holds conferences for patients and doctors.
Besides, with the participation of Dmitry Gordovich, a number of charity projects of BBR Bank are being implemented:

● Assistance to the Nizhegorodsky charity fund, which is engaged in the rehabilitation of children with cerebral spastic infantile paralysis
● Providing grants to the Council of Veterans, the Jewish charitable public organization of the disabled “Eva” and many others
In 2023, BBR Bank was awarded a letter of appreciation from the team of the Change One Life charity foundation for supporting the program that helps families see their future foster children using video cards posted on the web portal. The bank has been financing the project for the past nine years. Thanks to charitable transfers, tens of thousands of children from orphanages and boarding schools have found families.
Personal Life And Awards
Dmitry Gordovich is married to Kaledina Dalia. The couple has two daughters — Polina (1994) and Ulyana (2004). The entrepreneur devotes his free time to sports. He prefers skiing, chess, squash, hiking and fishing.
The top manager was awarded a medal and a certificate of honor for his contribution to the XXII Olympic Games in Sochi. He received an appreciation letter from the Ski and Snowboard Federation for financial assistance in preparing teams for the Olympics.
