Beat the odds?  Well, maybe. While it's true that the house always wins, there are a number of betting strategies that can help you level the playing field just a bit.

Nothing is guaranteed when you gamble, but using the right betting system can give some structure to your gambling that just may result in better odds and more fun.

Keep reading to find out which system is best for you!

The Right Betting System

Whether you're at a physical casino or playing online at Real Money Canadian online casinos, having fun while gambling is really the point of gambling. But it also really helps to win some money while you're doing it.

Choosing the right system to help you win more often will depend on how much you're willing to spend, your skill level, and tolerance for risk.

Bet Only a Small Percentage

Perhaps the safest of all systems is also the simplest. Just take 1-5% of your bankroll (however much you consider the disposable income that you can afford to lose) and only bet that much anytime you go to the casino.

For example, if you can spend $500 for a night out, and decide on 5%, the amount you should bet is only $25. Once that is gone, you should stop.

Obviously, this is a super safe method. The downside is that unless you have a big chunk of change, the low percentage of it will not allow for much action on a given night, particularly if you lose right away.

The upside is your chance to lose a lot is pretty low.

Focus On Tournament Play

If you have some experience with poker, consider primarily playing in tournaments rather than a standard game.

In a tournament, typically the fee is set at the beginning and the chance for a large payout is greater.

This means your expected payout over the longterm is likely higher since it doesn't take many wins to make up for (and exceed) the standard buy-in.

The Martingale

Many casual gamblers stumble onto this strategy on their own. It's fairly simple but is risky. The basic idea to double the bet each time you lose so that you'll always be making your way out of any hole you find yourself in.

For example, if you bet $5 on roulette and lose, the next time you bet $10.  Theoretically, this is sound, but there are some real-world downsides.

The roulette table will likely have a maximum bet in order to hinder this very strategy.

Don't Bet Drunk

This last strategy is really just another way of saying use common sense. It isn't a surprise that while intoxicated people make decisions they wouldn't otherwise make, which can lead to some bad losses at the casino.

Don't be like this man, who ended up losing half a million dollars due to his extreme intoxication while gambling.
