Starting a business is a huge decision and should not be taken lightly. You are going to have to invest a lot, mentally, physically, and financially. The rewards of starting a successful business will make the hard work you do payoff. Let’s take a look at what you have to have to get this business going. 

Drive 

This is what will make or break your company. It doesn’t matter if you have the best product or service on the market. You have to have an intense drive if your business is going to succeed. Everyone wants their business to be successful and make them tons of money. But, how far are you willing to go to make that happen? Your business, in the beginning, won’t be a 9-5. You should expect to work 12+ and weekends. Now, it shouldn’t always be like that, but you should plan for that for a long time. 

Are you willing to go into debt? You may have to. Starting a business can be very expensive, but if you’ve got the drive, the payoff will be worth it. 

Plan 

If you’re mentally and financially up for the challenge, let’s do this! Get a plan together. This will involve lots of research on your own and you should reach out to a professional, as well. Make a budget and allot extra money for unforeseen circumstances. Work with an accountant or business coach to help you make a strategic plan.

So, you’ve got the mindset and plan. Now you have to implement it. Document everything that you do. This will help you to see what works. When you talk with a new customer, ask them how they heard about you. This will help you to see where you should spend extra on marketing. This will also show you which product or service is the most popular and profitable. 

Persistence 

This goes hand in hand with drive. Your plan and implementation may need to be adjusted. You may not have success right out of the gate even if they are great. You will have to keep trying, and adjusting if needed. But, most importantly, don’t give up. The successful business owners never give up and you shouldn’t either. 

Starting a business will be challenging, but will be one of the most rewarding experiences of your life. Before you start, ask yourself how bad you want this? How far are you willing to go to make this happen? Are you willing to make sacrifices? If you answer yes, you are the business owner that will succeed.
